The Friends of the Pompton Lakes Library present the Winter 2023 Film series: Book to Screen Award Winning films! Friday, January 13 - Argo (2012) Friday, January 27 - Slumdog Millionaire (2008) Friday, February 3 - A Beautiful Mind (2001) Friday, February 17 - Silence of the Lambs (1991) Friday, March 3 - Terms of Endearment (1989) Friday, March 17 - A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (1945) All films begin at 7 p.m. on the main floor of the library at 333 Wanaque Avenue. Doors open approximately 15 minutes before showtime.

110th Anniversary Pompton Lakes Library Calendar
In honor of the 110th anniversary of the opening of Pompton Lakes Library in 1912, The Friends of the Library have produced a commemorative calendar with images of the library over the years and facts about its use.  Purchase your copy of this 18 month calendar (beginning in July 2022) at the Pompton Lakes Library for $10.
 

Reflections on the Pandemic – Now Available!
For many of us, COVID was our first experience living through a global pandemic.  It affected our lives in many different ways.  The Friends of the Library reached out to our community to gather together a collection of personal thoughts and experiences, now available at the Pompton Lakes Library in a limited edition published book “Reflections on the Pandemic”.  For a $5 donation, you can pick up your copy of this collection, only available at the Pompton Lakes Library.

 


2022 Summer Film Series on the Library Lawn
Fridays at 7:30pm

This summer the Friends of the Pompton Lakes Library are pleased to present its Summer Film Series featuring films tied to the local area.  Admission is free, so join us on the library lawn for movies under the stars!

‘In and Out’ (1997) – Filmed in Pompton Lakes, starring Kevin Kline, Tom Selleck, Joan Cusack, Matt Dillon, Debbie Reynolds
 
Friday, September 2nd (Rain date Sat Sept 3rd)
‘The Naughty Nineties’ (1945) Featuring Bud Abbott and Paterson’s own Lou Costello, including their favorite sketch ‘Who’s on First’
 
Friday, September 9th (Rain date Sat Sept 10th)
‘Lad, A Dog’ (1962) – Based closely on the novel by Pompton Lakes resident and renowned author Albert Payson Terhune
 
Friday, September 16th (Rain date Sat Sept 17th) – Double Feature!

‘Simpler Times’ (2014) – Directed by local actor Steve Monarque and featuring Jerry Stiller, the film features locations in and around Pompton Lakes
AND
‘Pompton Lakes, Our Home Town’ (1956) – Found discarded behind the Colonial Theater and now transferred from reel to digital, a depiction of post-war America
 
This program is made possible, in part, by a grant administered by the Passaic County Cultural & Heritage Council from funds granted by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.


Adult Coloring – New Location
Alternating Fridays at 1 p.m., Pompton Reformed Church
beginning Friday, May 6th 
Starting Friday,  May 6, 2022, adult coloring sessions will be held at the Pompton Reformed Church, located at 59 Hamburg Turnpike, Pompton Lakes, NJ.  The sessions will take place on the first and third Fridays of the month from 1-3 p.m.
 
Come spend a relaxing hour or two, we’ll provide the materials, you provide the fun.   Crossword, word search and other puzzles will also be available.
