Emergency Closing March 2020

July 28, 2020 update – 

As per the NJ Governor’s Executive Order No. 107 :

  • 9. All recreational and entertainment businesses, including
    but not limited to the following list, must close to the public as
    long as this Order remains in effect. The State Director of
    Emergency Management, who is the Superintendent of State Police, shall have the discretion to make additions, amendments,
    clarifications, exceptions, and exclusions to this list:
  • h. All municipal, county, and State public libraries,
    and all libraries and computer labs at public and
    private colleges and universities.
  • 26. This Order shall take effect on Saturday, March 21, 2020,
    at 9:00 p.m., and shall remain in effect until revoked or modified
    by the Governor, who shall consult with the Commissioner of DOH as appropriate.

    All materials checked out prior to the library closing will have their due dates set to July 31.  You may receive a reminder or overdue notice on those materials.  If you are unable to drop off your materials in the book drop, please call the library and we will renew the materials.

    Do not feel a rush to return materials. 

    Fines will be waived

Unfortunately, at this time we will need to cease our “curbside pick-up” service.

Story Time programs are suspended for the rest of the Winter Session. 

Community programs, including Bagels and Books, Chess Club, Mah Jong, Pompton Poets, Technology Help and any scheduled meetings will be suspended for the next 30 days.

The good news is that the library’s online collection and resources are available 24/7.

These include: 

hoopla  https://www.hoopladigital.com  offers digital video (movies and TV shows), music, audio books, eBooks and comics on a no waiting on-demand basis.

RBdigital  https://palsplusnj.rbdigital.com  offers over 3,400 digital magazines and 1,600 graphic novels to checkout and download with no waiting.

Overdrive  https://palsplus.overdrive.com/  offers eBooks and audio books.

These services may be accessed on a computer, or Android/ iOS mobile device.  hoopla also offers access on Roku and Amazon FireTV devices.

You will need a library card in order to access any of the digital offerings.  If you do not have a library card, it is expired or are having trouble accessing any of these resources please contact the library at PLLibrary@pomptonlakeslibrary.org or call 973-835-0482 or our children’s room number 973-835-5661.

While the library is closed to the public we will be minimally staffed, but feel free to call at    973-835-0482, leave a message outside of our operating hours or email the library at PLLibrary@pomptonlakeslibrary.org

At this time all physical materials currently checked out have had their due dates extended until the library is able to reopen.  The library will be waiving fines on any materials from now through a period of time when the library is reopened.

The library’s book drop will be open if you wish to return materials, but do not feel you are in any rush to return materials
