The 2026 Summer Reading Club theme is:
The Summer Reading Club will run from June 29th through August 14th. There are NO activities scheduled for the week of July 13th.

Registration will begin on June 15th. You MUST register in person in order to receive your Summer Reading Club packet. Registration for summer reading does NOT fill up, however, craft registrations will be week to week and CAN fill. More details and craft/program schedule coming soon!
Who may join the Summer Reading Club (SRC)?
The SRC is open to children from age 3 through students entering 8th grade in September. ANY child age 3 through 8th grade can participate in the reading and prizes portion of the SRC. Children who are not yet reading independently may keep track of books that are read TO them. The craft portion of the SRC is ONLY offered to children entering grades K-8 in September. Younger children may sign up separately for Summer Story Time to enjoy weekly stories and crafts that are more age appropriate.
How much does my child need to read, and what does he/she need to read?
We do not require children to read a certain number of books or for a certain amount of time. Simply keep a weekly log of minutes read and hand it in each week to receive your prize.
Required reading for school definitely counts! You may read books, magazines, graphic novels, ANYTHING! Children who are not yet reading independently may keep track of books that are read TO them. Audiobooks count too!
Does my child have to participate each week?
No. You may pick and choose which activities you’d like to participate in. If you only want to do the reading, that’s totally fine! If you only want to do the crafts, that is also fine! If you’re on vacation one week, you can hand in your reading slips the following week to collect your prize. At this time we are unable to offer make-up classes for the crafts. If we have left-overs at the end of the week, we would be happy to hold one for you!
If I’m already bringing my 2nd grader (for example), can’t my 3 year old (also for example) just sit with him/her and do the craft as well?
The Summer Reading Club is an opportunity for older children to mingle with one another, hang out, have fun, etc. The crafts that we have chosen for the SRC are specifically chosen to appeal to children in the K-8 age range. They may contain small parts, or require dexterity that a preschooler does not yet possess, etc. Younger children are encouraged to sign up for Summer Story Time so that they may also do crafts that are more age appropriate. HOWEVER, we understand that sometimes this can be difficult. IF we have enough space and supplies, a younger sibling may participate WITH THE HELP of their adult.
How long do the crafts take?
This varies from craft to craft and from child to child. For the most part, we allow up to about 45 minutes. Some activities may take one child 10 minutes, while they may take another child 40 minutes. For this reason, it is very important to be on time. Late-comers might not be able to be admitted to the craft.
Can I drop my child(ren) off for the craft?
Children under the age of ten years must be accompanied by an adult caregiver or other responsible caregiver (age 13 or older) at all times while on library property. Therefore, if your child is under the age of 10, a responsible caregiver must remain in the building (but not necessarily in the craft room).
